Martial Arts Students Appreciate Their Teachers

Students at Zandri’s Martial Arts celebrated their teachers this past Wednesday at Teacher Appreciation Day.

Each martial arts student nominates their school teacher to receive special recognition.  We’ve been hosting this event for years and it’s a blast every time.

Teachers from Center School and Huckleberry Hill Elementary School in Brookfield primarily attend.  But there was representation from the Danbury, New Milford, Bethel, Newtown and Southbury.

The teachers all really enjoyed the performances by their students.  School teachers are extremely busy and hard working and this kind of recognition is well deserved.

Here’s some great pics from the event.

11 Year Old Commits Suicide As A Result Of Repeated Bullying

I absolutley HATE sharing this kind of news.  However, as a martial arts instructor and a child safety advocate who teaches techniques for dealing with bullying, I feel compelled to.

Click the link below to read the full story and watch the video.  Also, if your child is a victim of bullying please speak to us.   We try to run our ‘Bully Proofing’ seminars this time of year.  Please make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the next one.

Zandri’s Martial Arts Belt Graduation March 2009

Belt graduation weekend is over.   198 students earned new belts this weekend.

This video is of members of BBT, Masters Program and Leadership Program performing a short demo before each individual graduation.  They did a GREAT job.

This video is members of Zandri’s martial arts ages 7 to 12 year olds youth beginner program.   This is a fantastic example of control during free sparring

Last but not least, this video is from the Little Dragons belt graduation.  Here they demonstrate discipline and focus as they get ready to begin.  Ages in this group range from 3 years old to 7 years old.

Congratulations to all students who graduated.  Every step you take in your training is another step towards your personal best.  There is no greater feeling than acheiving that new belt.  Knowing that all your hard work and effort has deep meaning.  It’s very rewarding and you should be proud.

Stay on track to your goals.  As you self confidence, self discipline, self control, focus, physical fitness and overall abilities improve, is one more step toward your personal best.  Again, congrats!!!

Stay tuned for more videos to come.  We will be posting more tomorrow.

Great Tips On Teaching Kids Confidence From Zandri’s Martial Arts

Studies show that most kids enter grade school with a very high level of self esteem.  Unfortunately, most kids end up leaving high school with very low self esteem.

This month at Zandri’s Martial Arts, we’re teaching lessons specifically on how to develop high self worth and confident.  We’ve got some fantastic tools for you to support this months lessons.

The Parent’s Perch is available at the front desk.  This will explain just how we’re going to teach this really powerful word.

Of course, Dr. Robyn created an awesome curriculum that we’ll be following.  All the ‘Mat Chats’ this month will focus on confidence.

Martial arts has always been incredibly helpful in building confidence.  Our unique stripe, belt and star reward system creates challenging yet achievable goals for children and adults.  These range from very short term goals to much longer ones.

Combine this with an environment that focuses on positivity, what they did right and how they can get even better, confidence soars.

If you’re not currently a member of Zandri’s Martial Arts, make sure to request our free character kit by entering your name and address below.   We’ll rush you copies of this month’s material as well as ‘The ABC’s of Parenting’ report and ‘Powerful Parenting Secrets’ audio cd.

Click here to request your free reports and audio cd.

Please enjoy these free videos provided by Dr. Robyn herself on how to help boost your child’s confidence.   There are two videos below.  Each is just under 5 minutes and both our power packed with great info.

Confidence is the Word of the Month at Zandri’s Martial Arts

I know you all look forward to the word of the month so I am really sorry that this is late!!!  I guess I caught a little of that spring fever in the air and let the thoughts of warmth and baseball rattle my brain a little.

Anyway, this month’s word is a GREAT one!!! CONFIDENCE.

This is truly a powerful word.  Confidence is the secret to success.  Confidence is what helps kids transition from Center school to Huckleberry school or Huckleberry to Whisconier or Whisconier to Brookfield High School!!!

I went to Danbury High School.  I still remember the fear I had going into that school the first time.  Took me a year to gain my footing.  Imagine if I had the power of martial arts training then?

I think you get the point.  Not sure what made me go off on the tangent about schools.  I think it’s the spring fever.  Anyway, here’s your monthly video.

Zandri’s Martial Arts Parents Asks Dr. Robyn Silverman

As part of our Powerful Words Character Development program, parents from all over the world submit questions to Dr. Robyn.  As you know, she answers these every single month in her ‘Ask Dr. Robyn’ letter that you can get a copy of at the front desk.

As an added bonus, here’s a video she did where she answers a parents question.  The question this month is a great one about children stealing.

If you would like to ask Dr. Robyn a question, you may post it here or submit it via email to Ask Dr. Robyn

Powerful Word of the Month for Feb 2009 at Zandri’s Martial Arts in Brookfield is “Trustworthiness”

This month, February 2009, we will be talking about “Trustworthiness” all month as our Powerful Word of the month. Don’t forget that you get your blue star for your uniform lapel by completing your PowerfulWords homework assignment. One star per month per person.

You can also take it a step further by using trustworthiness in your goal of the month. You get your yellow star for completing your monthly goal. Make sure to grab a goal sheet by the attendance cards.

Here is our own Dr. Robyn Silverman talking about the word of the month. We also want to congratulate Dr. Robyn and her husband Jason who are expecting their newborn adopted child late this month or early next month.
