‘The Race’ Comes to Brookfield, CT via the Supershow

‘The Race’ is a poem that was recited by a gentleman named Rory Aplanalp. Don’t try to pronounce his last name it will only confuse and irritate you. He told me he was in the 3rd grade before even he could pronounce it.

He was the keynote speaker at the 2008 Martial Arts Supershow this year and he did a fantastic job. I want to share this poem with you because the message is so strong.

Learning how to pick ourselves up when things get tough, to be determined to succeed, are principals that we teach at Zandri’s Martial Arts in Brookfield every day to kids as young as 3 and adults as old as… well, lets just say older. So when I heard Mr. Aplanalp speak on these very same principals, I was very excited to share it with you.

Click the link below to watch the video. I know you will be as inspired as I was. Oh, and by the way, at the very end before the video cuts out you will hear him talk about ‘throwing starfish’. Well that is another very inspirational story that I will share with you in a few days so make sure to check back.

One more thing. Free Gatorade for the first 5 students who can pronounce his last name correctly. Have fun trying 😉
