Do your kids ACT2LOUD?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I wanted to share this blog post with you.  I know many of you regularly surf over to Dr. Robyn Silverman’s blog to check out what the Powerful Words founder is up to.

Well, in case you have not seen this one yet, it is too good to let go by.  She talks about what to do when the kids get out of control in a public place.  This is a topic that many parents ask me about on a regular basis.  So I knew you would find it very interesting.

Here is the link to Dr. Robyn’s blog post “You’re Bothering Other People!” 10 Ways to Teach Children How to Act in Public.”

Enjoy!

How is your Compassion?

We are just about closing out May. Students have been learning about our PowerfulWord, compassion this month.

During the next two weeks, we will be focusing our discussions on these two topics:

1: Who is suffering and who needs help?
2: Expressing concern and taking steps to ease the pain of others

As you may already know, we are raising funds to adopt a village in South India. This is a perfect tie in with compassion month.

We have identified this dire need for help in a part of the world where people have to pull their drinking water from polluted source. And we have decided to take action to ease their pain by donating our efforts.

We will have more information coming about the water project. All it takes is $3,000 to provide clean water to an entire village. You can drop coins in the miniature water filter on the front desk. Or, for larger donations, you may leave cash or check with the front desk.

China Earthquake: Talking to Children about Tragedy

A news service in China has reported the death toll could be as high as 50 Thousand. 20 thousand have been confirmed dead with over ten thousand still buried. An entire village was completely buried as both sides of a mountain collapsed onto it. Even though they continue to search for survivors, it becomes more unlikely people will be found alive with each passing day.

This is an unbelievable tragedy. To put this in perspective, less than 3,000 died in the September 11th attack.

As our children hear about this, they may have questions. Our Child Development Expert, Dr. Robyn Silverman has posted a guide on how to help children cope when a disaster takes place on her blog.

Here is the Interview about Miley Cyrus with Dr Robyn Silverman on the Dr. Drew Pinsky Radio Show

Dr. Robyn Silverman has given us access to her interview with Dr. Drew Pinsky on his nationally syndicated radio show from April 29th. The interview was about the Miley Cyrus issue and how this affects parents and their young daughters. She provided this edited link without all the commercials. She told me the interview was about 15 minutes long.
